GlobalProtect VPN for Students and PhD Students:
The Department of Informatization of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology has a service of secure, remote access to PWr-NET network resources for students and PhD students from outside the campus called VPN (Virtual Private Network).
Thanks to the new VPN GlobalProtect service, students and PhD students of Wrocław University of Science and Technology have safe and reliable access to the resources of the PWr-NET network.
Below you will find instructions for installing the GlobalProtect VPN client for Windows and MacOS operating systems, as well as software installers for various Linux distributions.
The GlobalProtect VPN client is also available for Android and iOS mobile phones.
Computers connecting using VPN GlobalProtect receive IP addresses from the pool 10.253.0.0/20
Remote access to the Library's electronic resources:
Remote access to the Library's electronic resources from outside the Wrocław University of Science and Technology network is provided via a web portal available at vpn.student.pwr.edu.pl.
The condition for using VPN GlobalProtect is to have an active account in the Active Directory authentication system i.e., an account from the USOS portal (example login: jankow3456).
After logging in, to access remote library resources, select the library catalog available on the website. Then, a website with the resources of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology Library will be opened via VPN GlobalProtect.
Access to library resources is also available via a VPN client available for download in the upper right corner of the browser window.
Active Directory account activation and reset:
If you do not have access, to activate or reset your account on the USOS portal, please enter your student e-mail address at https://login.pwr.edu.pl/reset-hasla/.
Problems with authorization and Active Directory account should be reported to: pomoc+ad@pwr.edu.pl.
Installing the GlobalProtect VPN client:

2. After logging in, the GlobalProtect client will be available for download on the right side of the browser screen. After clicking, a new page will open with the option to download the client, depending on the operating system:

9. Once completed, a window with the words "Welcome to GlobalProtect" will appear on the screen in the lower right corner. Then enter “vpn.student.pwr.edu.pl” as the portal address.

The only officially supported Linux distributions are CentOS, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and Ubuntu. To run the GlobalProtect agent, you must download the appropriate version depending on the version of the distribution you are using.
The recommended versions are presented in the table below. Depending on your needs, the GP agent can be installed in a GUI or CLI version. The manual is available on the official PaloAlto Networks website.
